BOE touts its new MLED breakthrough as a way to make transparent displays clearer and brighter than ever - NotebookCheck.net News

Transparent displays are making their way into the high-end TV space as well as a possible necessity for augmented reality tech, although they might still be as impractical as they are expensive. However, BOE now claims to be able to fix that for their next generations with its new MLED panel type.

The display specialist concedes that devices that need to double as a window and a digital billboard can still be less than convincing as either due to discrepancies in their pixel structure or circuitry.

MLED, however, is rated for improvements in both, as BOE claims to have worked out how to space and connect its pixels in a way better for displays intended to be transparent.

The OEM asserts that these optimizations result in transmittance boosted by up to 65% in the parts of the MLED programmed to be opaque, or in 90% greater transmittance overall (compared to what is not clear, however).

BOE also asserts that its new MLED can have a brightness of 1,000 nits and a contrast ratio of 1:100,000 under certain circumstances.
